Leveling Up Leveling Up

You’ve been asking us to add more levels for a long time. We’re finally doing it, and we’re making other upgrades to our leveling system at the same time. Today you’ll see: new levels, more reward value from leveling, and a more challenging level curve!

More Levels, More Challenge

That’s right, we increased the level cap from 30 to 50. That’s twenty new levels for you to climb, and that climb will be steep. We heard it was too easy to get to level 30, so we made getting to 40 and 50 more challenging. It will take significant time and investment to get to Level 50, and those who make it there should feel proud of their achievement. In addition, we made the lower levels come a bit faster to keep the excitement up for new players. Here’s what it looks like:

We’ve also changed the way XP is earned to make it more social. You’ll still earn XP from playing RRO games, but now you’ll earn XP playing UGC games and in social settings like the Rec Center and clubhouses as well.

More Value

In the old system, when you leveled up, you’d receive 50 tokens. Over 30 levels that’s 1450 tokens (and it would have been 2450 if we stuck with that reward system over 50 levels). In the new system, you get an item box at each level - from consumable and 2-star boxes at lower levels to 3, 4, and even a 5-star box at higher levels. So now, leveling up to 30 will give you almost 8000 tokens worth of items, and getting all the way to 50 will get you over 25,000! That’s more than 10x the value of the old system. Here’s the breakdown:

Wrapping Up

We know this one has been a long time coming, so thank you for your patience and feedback along the way! We did consider other systems including a prestige system and a system that tied cheers and level more closely together. We may revisit those systems someday, or other systems based on your suggestions and feedback. For now, we hope you’ll find this new system more challenging, more rewarding, and more fun.
