Plans for Rec.Net
In the coming months, we will be making improvements to rec.net centered around creators. Specifically, we want to make it easy for you to showcase all of your Rec Room creativity. We want to allow you to transform your rec.net profile into a full-fledged creator portfolio, akin to other creative portfolio websites such as artstation.com. For creators with a lot of content, we also want to make it possible for you to choose what content visitors see first on your profile.
Room Showcase
As a first step, we are releasing a room showcase where creators can choose from rooms that they own to highlight on their rec.net profile. We chose to release a room showcase first because rooms are already a part of rec.net, and so this is a quick way to test out the showcase concept, get feedback, and iterate on the design before rolling it out more broadly.
For the first iteration of the room showcase, you will be able to choose four rooms that you own to display at the top of your profile. In the future, we will allow you to showcase rooms that you co-own.
Adding a Room Showcase
What’s Next?
Showing off your rooms is neat, but what about other content? In the future we will add a way to display your inventions on your rec.net profile. We’d also love to bring this customization to your in-game portfolio pages.
In Other News
In other news, you may have noticed the following small improvements to rec.net:
General speed improvements
Scroll position retained when browsing the rooms page or the profile photos tab
We will continue to improve the performance of rec.net at the same time that we are adding new creator features.
If you have thoughts on the new showcase, ideas for rec.net features you’d like to see, or pain points you want addressed please share them in the comments below or reach out to us in one of our community channels!
